‣ Kahe sündmuse edastatava infosisalduse keskväärtus eeldusel, et kumbki sündmus kuulub ühte kahest lõplikust ja täielikust vastastikku välistuvate sündmuste hulgast; matemaatilises väljenduses on see mõõt

kus X = { x₁... x_n } on sündmuste x_i ( i = 1 ... n) hulk, Y = { y₁... y_m } on sündmuste y_j (1 ... m) hulk, T ( x_i , y_j) on x_j ja y_j edastatav infosisaldus ning p ( x_i ,y_j) on mõlema sündmuse toimumise ühistõenäosus.
Märkus:
▫Keskmine edastatav infosisaldus on sümmeetriline X ja Y suhtes. Ühtlasi võrdub ta ühe hulga entroopia ja selle hulga teise hulga suhtes tingliku entroopia vahega:
T ( X,Y) = H ( X) - H ( X¦Y) = H ( Y) - H ( Y¦X) = T ( Y,X)
▫Keskmine edastatav infosisaldus on kanali kaudu edastatava informatsiooni mõõt, kusjuures X on teatav sõnumi hulk sõnumiallikas ja Y on teatav sõnumihulk sõnumineelus. Ta võrdub sõnumiallika entroopia ja määramatuse vahega või sõnumineelu entroopia ja irrelevantsuse vahega.

average transinformation content (synonym)

‣ The mean value of the transinformation content of two events, each in one of two finite sets of mutually exclusive and jointly exhaustive events; in mathematical notation, this measure is: where X = { x₁... x_n } is the set of events x_i ( i = 1 ... n), Y = { y₁... y_m } is the set of events y_j = (1 ... m), T ( x_i, y_j) is the transinformation content of x_i and y_j, and p ( x_i, y_j) the joint probability that both events occur.
Märkus:
▫1 The mean transinformation content is symmetric in X and Y. It is also equal to the difference between the entropy of one of the two sets of events and the conditional entropy of this set relative to the other.
T ( X,Y) = H ( X) - H ( X¦Y) = H ( Y) - H ( Y¦X) = T ( Y,X)
▫2 The mean transinformation content is a quantitative measure of information transmitted through a channel, when X is a specific set of messages at the message source and Y is a specific set of messages at the message sink. It is equal to the difference between the entropy at the message source and the equivocation, or the difference between the entropy at the message sink and the irrelevance.
